Oh cool I may actually know someone a bit! LOL! (I met you at Pet Expo with my greyhounds).
I'm showing my oldie who loves the whole thing and has been absolutely delighted with ringcraft. I'm so nervous though, it's my first show!
Also considering entering my young girl (just gone two) but she has been far more mixed about ringcraft and still shies away from her stack if a judge comes at her from a weird angle and still walks like a psycho in the 'ringcraft class because she's pulling or decided the floor is slippy. She's perfect on the lead on normal walks. So, I'm undecided with her and have until midnight to decide. ARGH!

Ah likewise I'll be there with a big black greyhound and an even bigger fawn - and a very bored looking boyfriend!! I entered my girl anyway in open bitch. I was so unsure but we had ringcraft last night and the teachers/judges/whatever you'd call them said to just go for it, it's meant to be fun after all! BTW, don't know if you'll know but there was no option to purchase a catalogue when doing online entry so when I arrive should I go straight and buy one and from there I'll be able to find out what ring/time I'm in at? As it's our first official show, I'm nervous and don't have a clue!! I presume you'll get your number there too - or in the ring? ALSO - one last question - is it ok for me to mention to the steward in my ring that it's our first show? A few people have said it's common practice! Anyway, thanks a mil if you can answer those and I look forward to maybe seeing you show your boy! :) |

Hi there, yeah you can collect and buy everything there. Its not a very big show so wont be hard to find your way around, so dont panic. Just get there in plenty of time so you arent rushing around and getting flustered.
Check your order of judging and thats the order the judging will go in the ring so keep an eye out in the ring for your class as with open shows they go a lot quicker as there wouldnt be as many entered as a normal show. There isnt a set time as such you will be in so you need to keep watch in your ring.
I dont know if i would tell them its your first show, not unless you get very nervous and make mistakes and panic in the ring. Try and be as professional as you can.
Anymore queries just shout and best of luck in case i dotn see you.

Thanks so much!
I'll be fine with my male dog but my girl is very green and will probably either bounce around or refuse to walk so they'll know one way or another that it's her first show!!
Thanks for the advice, the order of judging on the schedule has greyhounds last so for a while I was thinking I probably don't need to show up until 2pm but then I thought they're might be only 30 dogs entered in the whole flipping show, who knows, so I think I'll just arrive at 10.45 and keep my eyes peeled.
The ring number will be in the catalogue, right? :)

Def make sure you get there early, as a lot of dogs might not even turn up on the day at an open show, so never take that chance. Always be there for the start of the show at least.
Your ring number you wear will be there for collection and the actual number of the ring you are in will be there on the day, just ask the secretary when you pick up your numbers.

There will be a table/desk when you go in the door, it will be giving out all the entries, numbers, catalogues etc, you wont miss it.
