How To Choose A Good Dog Harness
- 26/02/2020
Our dogs deserve the best in this world. We should buy them luxurious beds, cute outfits, high-quality food, and sturdy but comfortable harnesses. When we take our dogs out for a walk, we should put them in comfortable and secure harnesses and collars. With the right harness, our animals will not feel restricted, less stressed, and feel safer when they go out beyond the house. It will also help dog owners to maintain a good grip on the leash. In the article below, we will inform you how to choose a good dog harness.
Made from cloths, and not chains
Many irresponsible owners use chains to tie up or create collars for their dogs. This is a terrible way to care for a fluffy friend because the chain could severely injure them if it is too tight, and it could fall off if it is too loose. When you purchase a harness, the most common materials available are the nylon oxford, the polyester, and the cotton. Nylon oxford tends to be the best option because it is very durable and stain-resistant, and allows the dog’s skin below to breathe and not chafe. But it is more expensive than polyester.
Wide or double straps
If you have a large dog, chances are he or she has pulled your arm once or twice while on a walk. Harsh pulls from your pooch can be avoided if you purchase a harness with either a thick strap or two straps. You’ll be able to pull your dog back from the middle of their body if you use one strap. Or, by using two straps, you can use all of your upper body strength to control your dog instead of one arm.
Collar or no collar
One of the worst areas to place a rope around a dog is the neck. It strangles their throat and squeezes their vocal cords. Many vets suggest dog owners switch from collars or neck harnesses to body harnesses. Where the leash attaches to the harness, there will naturally be a tug. The tugged part should not be pulling on the dog’s neck. Also, the neck collar should not have a leash buckle attached to it.
What to take away from this article
Dog harnesses secure our dogs on their leashes and keeps them from running out of hands and into traffic. We need to treat our furry friends well, starting with a good-quality harness that will stop pulling. They’re our companions, and they can’t tell us if they are uncomfortable or in pain. Every do owner should treat their furry friend well because deep down, we know our dogs would do the same for us.
